Start with business workflows
List the workflows that require platform data or actions: account provisioning, profile synchronization, reporting, dashboards and operational tools. Define source-of-truth ownership for each field.
Use an integration boundary
Where practical, isolate platform-specific logic behind a service layer. This reduces coupling between the trading platform and multiple customer-facing systems.
Authentication and authorization
Protect credentials, use least-privilege access, rotate secrets and separate environments. Administrative capabilities should not be exposed directly to browser clients.
Retries and idempotency
Network calls fail. Integration logic should distinguish safe retries from actions that could create duplicate side effects and should keep correlation identifiers for troubleshooting.
Reconciliation
Periodic reconciliation catches missed events and data drift. Define which system wins when data conflicts and how exceptions reach operations.
Observability
Record structured logs, latency, error rates and integration health. Alerts should identify the affected workflow and dependency rather than only report generic failures.
Change management
Version integration contracts, test changes in a non-production environment and maintain regression tests for critical broker workflows.
