What an MT5 bridge does
A bridge or connectivity layer can route trading flow between a broker platform and external execution infrastructure. The required design depends on venues, protocols and risk model.
Order routing
Routing logic should define destinations, failover, symbol mapping, account mapping and handling of rejected or partially executed orders.
Liquidity aggregation
Where multiple sources are used, document how prices are normalized, aggregated and distributed and how execution quality is monitored.
FIX and API connectivity
FIX is commonly used in institutional trading connectivity, while platform-specific APIs may support management and operational integrations. Exact interfaces depend on counterparties.
Risk controls
Exposure limits, routing rules, monitoring and exception handling should be documented before production use.
Bridge vs native connectivity
Do not assume an external bridge is always required. MetaTrader 5 also supports native connectivity options; architecture should be selected around the actual execution model.
Next step
Build a requirements matrix covering platform scope, integrations, connectivity, hosting, security, support and ownership. This makes vendor proposals comparable and exposes missing dependencies before deployment.
